HUBBARD, Ohio (WKBN) – The Hubbard High School marching band commemorated its 100th anniversary Friday evening by inviting the band’s alumni to return and be part of the celebration.

Before the game with Struthers , 165 alumni joined the 161 band members on the field for Hubbard High’s alma mater.

The oldest alumnus was from the class of 1953 — in her late 80s.

There were 15 alumni from the class of 2024.

“The wonderful world of social media helped spread the word for this. A lot of word of mouth and they were supportive. Anything like this is always a fluid thing — schedule changes here and there — but they’re great. A band is like riding a bike. You never forget. We had rehearsal last night. It was like they never left the band room,” said Scott Killian, assistant band director.

To help celebrate 100 years of the Hubbard Band, the alumni also took part in the homecoming parade, a pep rally and the halftime show.
