YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – It’s been over three years since 22-year-old Armani Wainwright was shot and killed, her body dumped in the middle of Southern Boulevard . Her family gathered on the same corner Saturday evening to celebrate what should have been her 26th birthday.

Wainwright’s grandfather, Wayne Thigpen, says their family struggles every day with the loss.

No one has been arrested in the case, leaving them without closure.

Surrounded by balloons and birthday cards, they prayed for justice.

Wainwright left behind three young children, who now have to grow up without a mother.

“I want closure,” Thigpen said. “She was not perfect, she had her flaws, but she didn’t deserve to get run over and shot to death.”

The case remains unsolved. Anyone with information on who killed Armani Wainwright is asked to call Youngstown Police.
