    David Ludt, former township trustee who helped create local police department, passes away at 84

    POLAND, Ohio (WKBN) — A former Poland Township trustee has passed away.

    According to his obituary , David Ludt, 84, passed away on Wednesday.

    Ludt worked on the creation of the Poland Township Police Department in 1978. He also served as Mahoning County Commissioner from 1998 to 2010.

    Ludt was the owner and operator of Ludt’s Towing, a business he co-founded with his brother, John C. Ludt, Jr, and was also in the United States Army Special Forces as a Green Beret and in the 82nd Airborne.
