(WKBN) — The Pennsylvania and Ohio Departments of Transportation announced more local construction projects on Monday.

A $3.2 million project to repair portions of Interstate 79 and Route 80 in the northwest region of Pa. is scheduled to start this Wednesday, Oct. 2.

The project will include 26 miles of Interstate 79 in both northbound and southbound directions in Mercer County, and 27 miles of Interstate 80 in both eastbound and westbound directions in Mercer and Venango counties.

Work will be done on sections on the interstate as needed and will include milling and paving, concrete patching, and new pavement markings. Minor repairs will also be done on eight bridges.

Construction is expected to be completed by August 22, 2025.

Lane restrictions will be needed to complete the work. Drivers should be alert for traffic pattern shifts and anticipate travel delays during active work hours.

ODOT will resurface U.S. 422 and state Route 616 in the city of Campbell and Coitsville Township, Mahoning County.

As part of the improvements, there will also be bridge work to the U.S. 422 bridge just west of Hubbard Road.

The proposed project is currently in the preliminary engineering phase and right-of-way acquisition is ongoing for the bridge replacement.

The $2,331,589 project is scheduled to begin construction in the spring of 2025, and comments on the project can be received by Oct. 30 by calling 330-786-2274 or emailing Sean.carpenter@dot.ohio.gov .

Several main roads in the Mahoning and Shenango Valleys have traffic alerts this week.
