YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Youngstown State University showed off what the city has to offer to a group of representatives from several different Vietnamese companies.

It’s all a part of a trade mission that started in 2019.

It gives the U.S. and Vietnam a chance to provide partnerships to buy and sell local products.

This week’s visit comes after a group of delegates from the Youngstown area visited Vietnam and Thailand in 2019.

“As an example also for a great success story, Rickenbacker Airport, which was one of the delegates that came with us to Vietnam at the time, now they do more business with Vietnam than they do with China,” said Mousa Kassis, YSU export assistance network director.

Leaders of the summit say having a direct relationship between Vietnam and the Youngstown area is beneficial as trade between Ohio and Vietnam — and between the U.S. and Vietnam — hit record highs last year.
