TRUMBULL CO., (WKBN) – Voters in Trumbull County will see a renewal levy for alcohol, drug addiction, and mental health programs on their ballots.

The 10-year, $1 million levy generates $3.4 million a year for the Trumbull County Mental Health and Recovery Board. Funds brought in from the levy makes up a third of the budget.

It’s used for agency contracts so people in the county can receive mental health and addiction services.

Mental Health and Recovery Board Executive Director April Caraway says the levy is needed in order to continue to provide current services.

“Without the local levy dollars things like employment services, housing, case management for kids, medication — those things can’t be purchased without these funds,” said Caraway.

The renewal levy is based on 2014 property values so taxpayers wouldn’t see any new taxes. It costs the owner of a home aprraised at $100,000 $23 a year.
