BEREA, Ohio (WKBN) — Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb is set to return to practice Wednesday in Berea.

Head Coach Kevin Stefanski made the announcement on Monday. However, he would not provide details on when Chubb would return to game action.

Chubb is expected to be activated from the reserve/physically unable to perform list later this week.

“He’s working very hard,” Stefanski said. “Natural progression is for him to start practicing, and he’s ready to do that. And then we’ll see how he goes from there…Very workmanlike, it’s the next step for him,” Stefanski said. “I’ve seen him in this building very early in the morning. Has an attitude that he’s just punching the clock, trying to get ready whenever he is ready.”

He will need to be added to the 53-man roster by the end of the three-week period or he will remain on the PUP all season.

Chubb suffered a serious knee injury in week 2 of the 2023 season in Pittsburgh on a hit from Steelers’ safety Minkah Fitzpatrick.

The 28-year-old suffered torn anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments along with damage to the medial capsule and meniscus. He underwent two surgeries to repair his damaged knee.

He took part in training camp on a limited basis, and has made steady progress in his return.

Since being selected in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft out of Georgia, Chubb has rushed for 6,511 yards and 48 touchdowns.
