    Valley native set to pitch in MLB playoffs

    SAN DIEGO, Ca. (WKBN) – Warren native and San Diego Padres relief pitcher Tanner Scott has an opportunity to pitch in the Major League Baseball Postseason after being named to the team’s 26-man Wild Card Series roster.

    Scott, a 2012 graduate of Howland High School, has an impressive 1.78 earned run average with 22 saves and 104 strikeouts in 72 innings pitched in relief this season.

    The National League All-Star was dealt from the Miami Marlins to the Padres at the trade deadline.

    Since the deal, Scott has posted a 3-1 record with a 2.73 ERA and has recorded 4 saves in 28 appearances for the Padres.

    San Diego takes on the Atlanta Braves in the NL Wild Card Game 1 on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 8:30 p.m.
