Browns officially waive veteran running back

BEREA, Ohio (WKBN) — The Cleveland Browns officially waived running back Gary Brightwell on Tuesday afternoon.

He appeared in two games as a reserve with the team this season.

Brightwell has appeared in 39 NFL games, including seven last season with the New York Giants.

He was originally selected by New York in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He has rushed for 164 yards and a touchdown while adding 11 receptions for 92 yards.

The Browns visit the Washington Commanders on Sunday at 1 p.m. on FOX Youngstown.
