WEATHERSFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) — The Weathersfield Township Police Department is investigating after over $2,000 worth of tire casings were reported stolen from a tire shop earlier this week.

Police were called to the shop on Ohio Machinery Boulevard Tuesday morning after an employee discovered a row of tire casings was missing from behind the shop.

Reports state surveillance video captured the theft around 10:30 p.m. Monday. It states two men approached the building from a nearby woodline, inspecting the tires in the rear of the shop before placing a call that was followed by the arrival of a Ford F-250 truck hauling a trailer behind it. Reports state the trailer already had several tires stacked inside upon arrival.

The manager of the shop advised police the suspects were looking for a specific type of tire casing, stealing only Lo Pro 225 Grade A casings. The total value of the stolen casings was reported as $2,500.

A tire casing is an old, used tire that the shop sells to be retreaded, according to reports — a service the manager said few facilities offer.

No suspects have been identified at the time of this report.
