YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — A federal grand jury this week indicted a Vermont Avenue man on drug charges.

Rashad Wahid Akbar, 35, was indicted Wednesday in the U.S. Northern District Court of Ohio on charges of possession with intent to distribute cocaine and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

An arraignment date is not listed in court records.

The charges stem from a warrant that was served Sept. 4 at the home Akbar has listed as his address, according to an affidavit that was filed with a criminal complaint in the case.

The affidavit does not say what led agents to serve the warrant but that agents found fentanyl in a safe as well as crack cocaine and cocaine.

When the warrant was served, there were two other people at the house, the affidavit said. The affidavit said when he was questioned, Akbar told agents “Nobody has anything to do with what was found in the house, take me to county [jail].”

The affidavit also said that agents found $3,000 cash.
