YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The Cardinal Mooney football team earned a much-needed win Thursday night with a 27-0 victory over Chaney at Stambaugh Stadium.

The Cardinals scored first in the first quarter with a 21-yard touchdown pass from sophomore quarterback Vince Gentile to junior Dennis Clark.

Mooney extended the lead with a four-yard touchdown run from senior Adyn Paige and entered halftime with a 14-0 advantage.

Gentile would strike again in the third quarter with a 43-yard touchdown pass to Rocco Gentile, extending the lead to 20-0.

The Cardinals capped off the scoring later in the third with a blocked Chaney punt returned for a touchdown by sophomore Brady Desmond.

Cardinal Mooney improves to 2-5 on the season and will travel to Warren Harding next Friday.

Chaney drops to 2-4 and will look to bounce back on the road against University School in Week 8.
