HERMITAGE, Pa. (WKBN) – The Hermitage Athletic Complex received some significant help from Pennsylvania’s Department of Transportation.

Community leaders managed to obtain more than $300,000 for the sports facility on South Darby Road from PennDOT’s multi-modal program, which was used for access roads and walking paths throughout the complex.

“Multi-modal applies to all modes of transportation, not just trucks and cars and roads and bridges, but also bikes and pedestrians and other assets that comprise the transportation network,” said PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll

Carroll said he hopes other communities will follow the lead of Hermitage in applying for funds through the state’s multi-modal program to help pay for their transportation-related projects.
