(WKBN) — Student drivers in Columbiana County now have a new opportunity to master their skills.

Multiple county organizations are sponsoring a state-funded Drive to Succeed Program. The program provides students with comprehensive courses designed to give them the skills and knowledge they need to become confident and capable drivers.

Students will be able to choose a local driving school, which will provide them with the 24-hour required in-class and car driving instruction.

    How to apply:

    • Talk to a school counselor and obtain an application.
    • Complete the application and return it to the counselor with a $25 good-faith deposit.

Eligible students must be 15-17 years old, be in good academic standing (GPA of 2.0 or higher), good attendance (no more than 3 unexcused absences in a recent semester) and meet income eligibility requirements.

Applications are first come first serve.

Questions can be directed to the Columbiana County Educational Service Center at 330-424-9591 or email Marian Dangerfield at mdangerfield@ccesc.k12.oh.us.
