(WKBN) – Hurricane Milton developed on Sunday and quickly worked its way into the history books. Milton strengthened into a category 5 hurricane in just 48 hours and 55 minutes which is the fastest of any Atlantic storm in history.

Additionally, Milton joined an elite group of Atlantic hurricanes when its central pressure plummeted to 897 millibars, placing it among the most intense storms on record.

Now Milton has gathered momentum and will soon make a strike on the western Florida coast where it will bring devastating storm surge, wind, flooding, and tornadoes.
