    Browns announce multiple transactions on Wednesday

    BEREA, Ohio (WKBN) – The Cleveland Browns announced multiple roster moves on Wednesday afternoon.

    The team placed long-snapper Charley Hughlett on injured reserve with a rib injury.

    Cleveland also signed long-snapper Rex Sunahara and tight-end Geoff Swaim to the active roster.

    Meanwhile, defensive tackle Maurice Hurst and linebacker Mohamoud Diabate were designated for a return from injured reserve.

    The Browns also signed two players to the practice squad including safety Trey Dean and defensive end Marcus Haynes.

    Hughlett has appeared in 152 consecutive games for the Browns since 2015. He ranks 14th on the Browns career games played list.

    Sunahara, a native of Bay Village, Ohio, spent time with the Browns during the preseason. He was originally signed by Miami in 2020 as an undrafted free agent out of West Virginia. He also spent time on the Steelers’ practice squad.

    Swaim is in his 10th NFL season out of Texas. He has appeared in three games for the Browns this season. Swaim has appeared in 103 career games with 65 starts with the Cowboys (2015-18), Jaguars (2019), Titans (2020-22), Cardinals (2023) and Browns (2024). He has recorded 110 career receptions for 846 yards and six touchdowns.

    Hurst started the season opener as a defensive tackle and recorded three tackles. He was placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury on Sept. 11.

    Diabate registered two tackles in the season opener. He was placed on injured reserve with a hip injury on Sept. 11.

    Dean was originally signed by the Jets as an undrafted free agent in 2023 out of the University of Florida. He spent a portion of his rookie season on the Jets’ and Chiefs’ practice squads.

    Haynes spent time with the Browns during training camp and recently was on the Steelers practice squad. He was originally signed by Denver in 2023 as an undrafted free agent out of Old Dominion.

    The Browns visit the Eagles on Sunday at 1 p.m. on FOX Youngstown.
