    Rose Lee Walker, Youngstown, Ohio

    YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Rose Lee Walker, age 84, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, at Windsor House at Guardian Nursing Home in Youngstown, Ohio on September 29, 2024.

    Ms. Walker was born December 30, 1939 to Pauline Walker and Paul Pegues, Jr. Upon the death of her mother when she was just two years old, Rose Lee was reared by her grandmother, Mary Jane Walker.

    She matriculated through Youngstown City Schools and graduated from East High School in 1958.

    Rose Lee was a long-time and faithful member of Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church, where she served on the Usher Board and worked in the kitchen.

    Rose Lee was nicknamed “Jitterbug” by her family because of her love of dancing. She also loved to shop, especially at her favorite store, Walmart – where everyone, including the bus drivers who drove her there, knew her name but most of all, Rose Lee devoted her life to raising her son, Rodney, who was the love of her life.

    Rose Lee leaves behind to cherish her memory, her son, Rodney Lamont Walker; her sister-in-law, Dorothy “Bobbie” Pegues; her uncle and aunt, Martin and Pearl Walker; her nephew, Paul J. (Kyowa) Pegues IV; her niece, Selena Shirelle Pegues; her niece, Leslie (Milton) Gage; special cousins, Robert (Sherry) Walker and Evelyn McLendon; a host of cousins, great-nephews and great-nieces and her close friend, Shedrick Hobbs.

    In addition to her parents and grandmother, Rose Lee was preceded in death by her brother, Bishop Paul J Pegues Ill; sister, Barbara Jean Pegues; sister, Paulette Gardner and her best friend, Rosalie Hobbs.

    A homegoing celebration service was held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1232 Hill Street, Youngstown, OH 44505, where the family will receive friends for a visitation from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m.

    F. D. Mason Memorial Funeral Home, Inc. were given the honor to serve the family during this time of bereavement. Thank you allowing our staff to serve your family as we would be served since 1963.

    A television tribute will air Friday, October 11 at the following approximate times: 5:17 a.m. on WKBN, 8:39 a.m. on FOX, 5:21 p.m. on WYTV and 6:35 p.m. on MyYTV. Video will be posted here the day of airing.
