GIRARD, Ohio (WKBN) – A Girard man is facing charges after police say he forcefully took his daughter from a home in Girard.

A warrant has been issued for Carlton Watson, 32, on a charge of abduction, a third-degree felony; and aggravated trespass, a first-degree misdemeanor, in connection to an incident that happened Friday at a house in the 200 block of Davis Street.

According to a police report, Watson came to the house uninvited and wanted to take his daughter. The mother was away from home, and a man who was there told Watson he could not take the child unless he got the OK from the child’s mother.

Reports said that Watson tried calling the child’s mother but couldn’t reach her. The man at the house called the child’s mother and she told him not to let Watson take the child. That’s when the man said Watson pulled out a gun and left with the child.

Police recovered the child at a family member’s house in Cleveland a short time later and returned her to the mother.

Investigators say a warrant was issued for Watson’s arrest and that he had not been apprehended yet.
