She was a 1948 graduate of South Hills High School, Pittsburgh.

Peg retired as a file clerk at the dermatology office of Dr. Dale Pokorney and Dr. Lynn Williams.

Peg was an active member of First Unitarian Universalist Church of Youngstown, Ohio, which she joined in 1982.

Peg was passionate about reading and at one time belonged to four libraries. She always had a book at the kitchen table and by her bedside. She also subscribed to several periodicals and newspapers. Reading about history while staying current with local and national news was her favorite pastime.

She also worked with the League of Women Voters, and the Shenango Valley Recycling Center. In recent years, she donated her time to the Shenango Valley Community Library and Baby Bundles Crochet Club.

Peg had a deep love and respect for all animals, loving and caring for many dogs and cats throughout her lifetime, and volunteered for the Humane Society of the Shenango Valley in the 1980’s.

She was an excellent pianist and loved entertaining her children and friends with classic pieces, show tunes and songs of the 40’s and 50’s. She was also a member of the Youngstown Symphony Choir as an alto for several years.

She is survived by a daughter, Erica R. McCracken, Hermitage; a son, Douglas C. Tomm and his wife Paula (Daccarett), San Jose, California; and a granddaughter, Olivia M. Tomm and her partner Martin Damyanov.

In addition to her parents, Peg was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Tomm, whom she married on June 10, 1954; and a brother, James Egan.

The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to either the Shenango Valley Community Library, 11 Sharpsville Ave., Sharon, PA 16146; or the Shenango Valley Animal Shelter, 2599 Broadway Rd., Hermitage, PA 16148.
