(WKBN) – The Flint, Michigan, based Insight Health Systems is now the owner and operator of Trumbull Regional Medical Center and Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital.

Dr. Rany Aburashed is Insight’s Corporate Chief Medical Officer. He says not only did Insight buy Trumbull and Hillside, but they bought all of Steward Health’s operations in Trumbull and Mahoning Counties including the Health Center on Elm Road in Bazetta Township and the Urgent Care in Austintown.

He says the purchase was made official Wednesday.

“We realized very rapidly that there is a place for these institutions. Austintown, the urgent care there, that provides really a very beneficial service to the community,” Aburashed said.

Aburashed said he and others at Insight have spent the past month investigating all aspects of Steward’s former operations.

“Looking at everything from the equipment to the physicians, to the volumes, and then also obviously strategizing and connecting with all those players on the ground: the physicians, the nurses, the techs,” said Aburashed.

He said the biggest issue they must overcome is insecurity among the employees. Their livelihoods were threatened. Some have — what the doctor called — real mental pain.

“A lot of our focus right now is going to be really on helping people, healing people, getting them to a new mental state of, ‘Okay, this saga’s over, now we can actually focus on what we want to focus on and now we can build together,'” Aburashed said.

The doctor said Trumbull Regional is operating at full capacity and is seeing increased volumes. Insight, he said, will recognize and work with all the unions. There will be challenges but there’s also a goal.

“You know the goal is that this community loves us more in two years than they love us today and that’s how you have to view a build like this,” he said.
