Toys for Tots preparing for holiday season

(WKBN) – The Toys for Tots program is already gearing up for the holiday season.

Toys for Tots started in 1947, providing toys for children every year during the holiday season.

Last year, the Toys for Tots campaign received more than 46,000 toys that were delivered to over 12,000 children. Each year, its goal is to expand the campaign to reach more children.

“To help people around us, to help our communities that’s what Marines love. Me, personally as a Marine and as a person, I love children. So seeing a kid happy, makes me happy,” said Lt. Cpl. Hayli McKenzie.

The Marine Corps has partnered with more than 200 businesses across the Mahoning Valley to set up donation locations.

Businesses can still register as drop-off locations. The deadline is November 30.
