YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The cool and crisp nights the past few days are starting to make the fall colors come out.

Well, fall has kicked off here in the Valley and several locations across the area have opportunities for you to go see those fall colors. One of those places is Mosquito Lake State Park.

Mosquito Lake is a beautiful state park full of all kinds of activities, And naturalist Jason Lee says there’s a little bit of something for everyone.

“I think when you look at this park, some parks have their like niche and then they only have that to offer. They have amazing trails or maybe they have amazing programs. Some parks maybe are really close to the city. I think where we’re located in Ohio, we offer a little bit for everyone. If you can’t find something to do at Mosquito Lake, I would be shocked,” Lee said.

Not only is there a variety of activities, but there’s also a variety of fall colors.

Well, I think that there’s a variety of things that you can look forward to when you’re trying to predict the fall colors. You know, it’s it’s not just based on the weather patterns. It’s also based on the type of trees. And I think that’s one thing that makes Mosquito Lake a nice place to watch. This is because we do have a variety of trees around the lake. We’ve got our maples, the oaks, the black, you know, black cherry. So we’ve got a variety of around the lake,” Lee said.

Some of the upcoming events include a Halloween dog costume party, pumpkin carving and learning how to make your own apple butter. You can check all of this out on the Mosquito Lake State Park Facebook.
