SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. (WKBN) – In this special college football Game of the Week , Slippery Rock University takes on Gannon University in Division II football action at Milhalik-Thompson Stadium.

Slippery Rock jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the 1st quarter after quarterback Brayden Long connected with Mike Solomon on a 6-yard touchdown to cap off an impressive 17 play 99-yard scoring drive.
Gannon responded with a 17 play drive of their own that resulted in a Bryson Costa field goal to cut the Slippery Rock lead to 7-3 in the 2nd quarter.
The Rock added to the lead on the ensuing drive, marching down 73 yards in just 6 plays and scoring on Long’s second touchdown pass of the day, this time hitting wide receiver Logan Ramper to make it 14-3.
In the 3rd quarter, Slippery Rock would begin to separate after Long used his legs for a 3-yard score to extend the lead to 21-3 with just over 10 minutes to play in the quarter.
The Golden Knights would eventually find the endzone after that, when QB Jayden Whitaker hit Mike Watkins deep down field for a 36-yard score to cut it back to a 21-10 Gannon deficit.
Slippery Rock running back Idris Lawrence then scored from 1-yard out to make it a three-possession game again just before the end of the 3rd quarter.
It wouldn’t take long for The Rock to add to it, when Long found JayJay Jordan for a 44-yard touchdown in the 4th quarter to push it to 35-10 Slippery Rock.
