    Linda Nevel, Girard, Ohio

    GIRARD, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Linda Nevel, 81, of Girard, passed away peacefully, at her son’s home, on Friday, October 11, 2024, surrounded by her family.

    Linda was born January 14, 1943 in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of William and Margaret (Rees) Warner.

    Linda graduated in 1960 from Boardman High School and later began working as a teller for First National Bank. She worked her way up in management to Vice-President of Human Resources at First National Bank, before retiring in 2000.

    Linda was a former member of Girard First United Methodist Church where she had served as the church treasurer, sang in the senior choir, and served on various committees.  She was a member of the Board of the YWCA of Youngstown, where she served as President of the Board for two years. Linda enjoyed spending time at her Lake Erie cottage, reading and playing the piano.

    She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Dr. Ronald A. Rhodes, and his wife, Lynn, of Girard; stepchildren, Bruce Nevel, Scott (Kim) Nevel, Keith Nevel and Jeanne (Bruce) Cofman; sisters, Judith (Larry) Elder of Poland, Cynthia (John) Phillips of Hubbard and Bonnie Vrabel of Washingtonville; brother, William (Kirsti) Warner of Nashville, Tennessee; grandsons, Ronald Rhodes Jr and Patrick(Nicholette) Rhodes; seven step-grandchildren; her great-granddaughter, Adaline and seven step-great-grandchildren.

    Besides her parents, Linda is preceded in death by her husband, Ray B. Nevel, whom she married April 3, 1976 and died November 18, 2018.

    Family and friends may gather on Tuesday, October 17th, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Blackstone Funeral Home .

    Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

    Linda will be laid to rest at Lake Park Cemetery, next to her husband.

    The family would like to thank the staff of Liberty Arms Assisted Living for making her a part of their family for the past 7 months.

    A television tribute will air Monday, October 14 at the following approximate times: 6:47 a.m. on WYTV, 9:43 a.m. on WKBN, 10:58 a.m. on FOX and 8:12 p.m. on MyYTV. Video will be posted here the day of airing.
