The Warren post of the OSHP was called to state Route 5 at milepost 27, west of Old Route 5, in Johnston Township around 4:30 a.m. Saturday.

Reports said the driver, Jim Miller Jr., 47, of Jamestown, Pennsylvania, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck when he went off the left side of the road and hit a mailbox and a tree.

Reports said that Miller was pronounced dead at the scene and that alcohol and drug use didn’t appear to be a factor in the crash.

Reports said one lane of state Route 5 was closed for three and a half hours while emergency crews cleared the scene. OSHP was assisted by the Johnston Fire Department, the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office and the Trumbull County Coroner.

The crash is under investigation, according to OSHP.
