WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – A Trumbull County jury took less than an hour Wednesday to find a Warren man guilty of aggravated robbery, felonious assault and trespass charges.

Craig Ison, Jr. will receive his sentence on Oct. 29 in Judge Ronald Rice’s courtroom. Ison, who is now in the Trumbull County Jail, faces more than 20 years in prison.

According to a news release from the Trumbull County Prosecutor’s Office, the case involved the robbery of a 72-year-old woman on July 11 in the 100 block of Main Avenue SW.

Prosecutors say the victim, who was pushed through the window during the robbery, identified Ison as her assailant.

Police also reported finding $24 in Ison’s pocket that was covered in what they believed to be the woman’s blood.

Ison had testified that he recognized the woman as she was going into Huntington Bank and said she owed him money. He said she fell through the window and then paid him his money, according to the news release.

Senior Assistant Prosecutor Michael Burnett said the jury didn’t believe Ison’s story, however.

“The defendant followed her into the building… and he attacked her from behind and slammed her head through a glass display case. She fell to the ground and the defendant began to repeatedly punch her as she cowered, terrified,” Burnett said.

Ison was also tried for an April 7, 2024, incident where a mother and grandmother reported they forced Ison out of their Tod Avenue SW home while children were playing inside.

Testimony brought forward by Burnett showed Ison was found inside the living room of the home with his one hand down his pants and the other hand on a 4-year-old girl, the release from the prosecutor’s office stated.
