YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – It’s a tale as old as time: A nerdy floral assistant falls in love with his beautiful, damsel-in-distress co-worker only to have it all almost fall apart due to a human-eating, blood-sucking plant.

Beloved musical “Little Shop of Horrors” is being put on by the Millennial Theater Company for nine performances at The Hopewell Theater. The story centers on Mushnik’s Flower Shop and a meek florist assistant living on Skid Row named Seymour, played by local actor Edward Bazzell.

Seymour is in love with his beautiful coworker Audrey, played by local actress Hannah Sinclair. Audrey is stuck in an abusive relationship with a biker dentist named Orin, aptly played by another local actor, Andy Scott.

Seymour finds an unusual plant after a powerful solar eclipse that changes his luck for the better, but that same plant also ends up eating people and has a voracious thirst for blood. The show is full of catchy, dancy musical numbers with a full cast assembled by Joe Asente.

“Little Shop of Horrors” opens Friday, October 18, and runs for three weekends. Friday and Saturday showtimes are at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday showtimes are at 2 p.m.

The Hopewell Theater is located at 702 Mahoning Avenue in Youngstown. For tickets and information, head to MillennialTheatre.org.
