    GIRARD, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Anna J. Daugherty, 92, of Girard, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at Liberty Healthcare in Youngstown.

    Anna was born August 18, 1932 in Leetonia, Ohio the daughter of Clarence and Elsie (Gidley) Lease.

    She married the love of her life William Daugherty, who she met while working at Salem A & P.

    She graduated from Salem High School in 1951.

    She was a member of Highland Christian Church but after moving to Girard, she became a member of Girard First Christian Church.

    She was a member of Columbiana County Chapter of OGS.

    She was employed at Girard Bowling Alley, Lees Restaurant and Highland Dairy.

    She was a boy and girl scout leader, Mary Rebecca Lodge and TOPS 698.

    She leaves to cherish her memory her children, William Daugherty, Carol Fackelman, Michelle Luther and Annie (Robert) Holzschuh; sister, Shirley Lease; brother, Richard Lease; six grandchildren, Michael Yankey, Joseph Yankey, Nicholas (Morgan) Cretella, Ashley Cretella, Emily (Thomas) Mooney, Billy Daugherty, Jr. and Ella Daugherty; six great-grandchildren, Kendell and Joey Yankey, Arilynn and Karsyn Yankey and Crew and Lola Cretella and her best friend and roommate, Patty Barger.

    Along with her parents, Anna is preceded in death by her husband, William, who passed away exactly 58 years, on October 16, 1966, a spiritual reunion for two souls that have been apart for so long; daughter, Shirley Cretella; brothers, Clarence Lease Jr., Arnold Lease and Donald Lease and sister, Lillian Hughes.

    The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, October 20 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. and also Monday, October 21 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., with a funeral service immediately following at 11:00 a.m., all at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard.

    Anna will be laid to rest at Hope Cemetery in Salem next to her husband.

    In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society, an animal charity or veteran charity of your choice in Ann’s memory.

    The family would like to thank Liberty Healthcare and the staff for all the care and compassion that was given to Anna.
