Niles gala surrounds heart health and awareness

NILES, Ohio (WKBN) – The American Heart Association (AHA) is celebrating some of its best stories at an event in Niles Thursday night.

The Tri-County Heart Ball is being held at the Eastwood Mall Expo Centre.

AHA is celebrating 100 years of being a relentless force for heart health. Heart Ball Chair Christina Dascenzo said it all started with four doctors getting together and deciding they needed to make improvements.

“We’ve gone from large pacemakers to implantable pacemakers. They’ve done research to come up with new prescription medications. It’s made life so much better, but we gave so much more to do,” Dascenzo said.

Survivor stories will be showcased at the event.
