    Katherine Elizabeth Collins, Warren, Ohio

    WARREN, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Katherine Elizabeth Collins, 102, passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, October 10, 2024.

    She was born September 8, 1922 in Champion, to Banks M. Hunter and Hazel Coffman Hunter, and was a life long resident of Warren, Ohio.

    Katherine (Betty) was a 1940 graduate of Champion High School .

    She was an employee of Packard Electric until 1945, when Betty married Kenneth S. Collins on June 23, 1945. They spent 27 happy years together until his death July 3, 1971. She worked for Livingston’s department store until they closed—and then went to work at JC Penney. Betty retired in 1995.

    She was a member of the Warren North/Tod Heights Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Warren/Niles, Ohio. Betty was an avid reader of the Bible and enjoyed talking to others about her faith.

    She also enjoyed traveling, flower gardening and loved being with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

    Betty is survived by two sons, James E. (Sue) Collins, Sr. and William K. (Marjorie) Collins, both of Howland. She is survived by five grandchildren, Connie Goldner of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Nancy Hosey of Niles, James Collins, Jr. of Niles, Brian (Andrea) Collins of Howland and Bethany (Adam) Arthur of Stow; 11 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren and one brother, Richard M. Hunter of Howland. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews; two special nieces with whom she was very close to are Linda (Don) Spence of Lake Milton and Judi (Phil) Poston of Fort Myers, Florida and also great-nieces and great-nephews.

    Her loving granddaughter, Connie, helped as a caregiver. Her grandson, James, Jr., considered Betty as his mom.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth; her brothers, Robert Hunter, Kenneth Hunter and Milt Hunter and sisters, Corrine Kirk and Eleanore Lough.

    Cremation has taken place. Memorial arrangements are pending.
