Couple accused of trying to bring drugs to jail in Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A Youngstown couple is facing charges after Mahoning County Prosecutors say they tried to have drugs snuck into the jail.

WKBN 27 First News obtained surveillance video recorded earlier this month that prosecutors say shows inmate Joseph Grove being led into court for a hearing. A short time later, his girlfriend, Marquia Burroughs, can be seen leaving but dropping something on the floor.

As Grove is led out of the courtroom, he drops paperwork in an effort to pick up what his girlfriend left.

Deputies immediately tackled him and took him back to jail.

We’re told the substance was cocaine.

Both are now charged with conveying drugs into a government facility, tampering with evidence and assault.
