AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The Austintown Belleria has changed locations to become more centrally-located in the township.

On Wednesday, the Belleria reopened on Mahoning Avenue across from Giant Eagle, in the building formerly occupied by Austintown Pizza and Chicken.

It had been at a location further west on Mahoning for 27 years.

On Friday, First News found manager Stella Gatanas making pizzas, using the same recipe from when Belleria started in the late 1950s.

“It was 1957 at the Lowellville festival. It went so well that my grandmother and my great aunt took their mother’s recipe, my great-grandmother’s recipe, and opened on Albert Street in 1958,” owner Mike Liberato said.

Belleria started franchising in 1997 and Austintown was one of the first locations.

There are now 13 Bellerias — most of them around Youngstown but there’s also one in Kent.
