COLUMBUS, Ohio (WKBN) – Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine has pushed back the execution dates for three men in the state, including two who committed crimes in the Valley.

Stanley Adams , who was scheduled to be executed in February of 2025, is now scheduled to be executed on February 16, 2028. He is currently being held at the Ross Correctional Institution in Chillicothe.

Adams was convicted of murdering a Warren woman and her 12-year-old daughter in 1999. He is also serving life in prison for the August 1999 rape and murder of a Hubbard woman.

John Drummond , who was scheduled to be executed in April of 2025, is now scheduled to be executed on March 15, 2028. He is also being held at the Ross Correctional Institution.

Drummond was convicted in a 2003 drive-by shooting that killed a 3-month-old baby boy in Youngstown. He and an accomplice fired 11 shots into two homes on Rutledge Drive. The infant was shot in the head while in a baby swing.

DeWine also rescheduled the execution for James Hanna. He was scheduled to be executed in May of 2025 and is now scheduled to be executed on April 19, 2028.

DeWine issued these reprieves “due to ongoing problems involving the willingness of pharmaceutical suppliers to provide drugs to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (DRC), pursuant to DRC protocol, without endangering other Ohioans,” according to a release.
