CAMPBELL, Ohio (WKBN) — An Austintown man is in the Mahoning County jail after reports said he was found Saturday evening with a loaded gun in a house where police were answering a burglary call.

Tirone Moore, 37, is expected to be arraigned Tuesday in municipal court on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm, a third-degree felony; fourth-degree felony counts of tampering with evidence and carrying concealed weapons; and obstructing official business.

Reports said Moore was found inside a home in the double-digit block of Oxford Street at about 7:35 p.m. by police who were sent there for a report of an unknown man inside the home.

Police found the front door open and found Moore inside, reports said. As an officer went to handcuff, reports said he reached towards his waist and the officer could hear something hitting the floor.

At first, Moore told police he did not drop anything and then he said he dropped a speaker, reports said. When other officers arrived reports said they found a loaded 9mm handgun on the floor where Moore had been handcuffed.

The homeowner said she did not wish to pursue burglary charges against Moore, only that she wanted him to leave, reports said.

Reports said a records check found Moore has two felony robbery convictions out of New York City and a domestic violence conviction from Mahoning County Common Pleas Court, charges which prohibit him from having or being around a gun.
