    POLAND, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Mary Ann Valley, 91, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2024.

    Mary Ann, affectionately known as Tootsie, was born on May 19, 1933 in her family home in Campbell, Ohio. She was the daughter of Paul and Anne Matun.

    Tootsie was a graduate of Campbell Memorial High School , Class of 1951 and from the age of 16, she was employed by several area grocery stores.

    She married Thomas L. Valley on September 15, 1984. They were together until his passing in 2008.

    Tootsie enjoyed casino trips, the Steelers and the Indians. She looked forward to Lent every year so that she could enjoy “fish Fridays” with the girls.

    Tootsie is survived by her daughter, Catherine Morris Bertelli. She is also survived by her brother, Thomas (Karen) Matun and her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jeanne Dambrogio, Ron and Cindy Goulish, Ray and Arlene Valley and Phyllis Soloman.

    Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Tom; her son-in-law, Ross Bertelli; three brothers, John (Amy), Joseph (Anne) and Michael (Ida) Matun and a sister, Catherine (Matthew) Spellich.

    Cathy would like to thank Judy Gries and Yvonne St. Pierre for the care and compassion they showed to her mother. She also thanks Rosanne Morell for always being there to do anything for Tootsie.

    Friends will be received Tuesday, October 29, 10:00 – 11:15 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Church in New Middletown, followed immediately by a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11:30 a.m., celebrated by Fr. John Rovnak.

    She will be privately entombed with her husband at Calvary Cemetery.

    In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
