Michigan Man Misses Massive Lottery Prize By One Number, Wins Big Next Day

One lucky Michigan man proved that the second time might just be the charm with an unbelievable lottery redemption.

According to WXII12 , the 53-year old Macomb County resident nearly won $610,000 as part of a Fantasy 5 drawing (held on July 26) but came up one number short. He played again on July 27th, and was victorious the second time around!

“I always buy Fantasy 5 tickets if the jackpot is over $250,000. I usually buy my tickets in-store, but the night of the drawing, I realized I’d forgotten to buy some.” So, the fortunate individual purchased two tickets online, and received an email telling him that the won $1. Upon entering his email account, he found a second message with a much larger prize amount attached.

“When I logged in and saw $795,905 pending, my first thought was that it was a scam. What’s crazy is the night before, I matched four out of five numbers on my Fantasy 5 ticket and thought: ‘I was so close!' I never could have imagined then that the next night I would actually win the jackpot!"

The lucky Macomb County resident visited lottery officials shortly after the victory to claim his prize, and revealed that it didn't feel real until he arrived at state lottery headquarters.
