    Fairhope sewer overflows into Rock Creek

    FAIRHOPE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — The City of Fairhope said a sanitary sewer overflowed Thursday morning after a contractor mishap.

    According to a city press release, the incident happened at 23073 Main St., in Fairhope, around 10:34 a.m., when a contractor reportedly “bored through the 4-inch force main that’s located underneath the customer’s driveway.”

    LOCATION:

    The release said crews stopped the overflow, which sent about 2,300 gallons of sewage into Rock Creek.

    Following the overflow, officials disinfected the area and placed signs to warn the public of the overflow, according to the city.

    Every time we have a lot of rain, the City of Fairhope releases their sewage waste into Mobile Bay.The area around the Fairhope pier is always contaminated because of the duck ponds that they have,on the north of the pier.
