Woman, 6-year-old killed in Dauphin Island crash Monday: ALEA

MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. ( WKRG ) — Officials with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency have identified a woman after she and a 6-year-old were killed in a crash on July 22 in Dauphin Island.

ALEA officials said 61-year-old Mary R. Hawkins was killed when a 2014 Lexus ES-350 collided head-on with a 2018 GMC Sierra around 2 p.m. Monday. A 6-year-old passenger in the GMC also died.

Five other people in the GMC, including a 7-year-old and 17-year-old, were seriously injured in the crash and taken to local hospitals.

The crash happened on Alabama 193 near the 1-mile marker. ALEA Highway Patrol Division officials are continuing to investigate.
