    Victims of deadly Augusta County train collision identified, VSP

    AUGUSTA, COUNTY, Va. ( WFXR ) – Virginia State Police have identified the victims of the deadly triple collision involving a train that occurred in Augusta County on August 12.

    A little after 8 p.m. on Monday, a 2019 Ford transit van was driving towards Wayne Ave, when it crossed tracks in the area. The van was then hit by a train traveling north, causing it to roll over.

    The collision ejected two men and a woman from the van. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

    VSP has identified the victims as 48-year-old Abner Comete from Boynton Beach, FL, 44-year-old Jacner Comete from Lauderhill, FL, and 38-year-old Wilda Comete from Lithia Springs, GA.

    Police believe Abner Comete was the driver of the van.

    28-year-old Ronide P. Louis from Lithia Springs, GA has been identified as a fourth passenger and was seated in the front of the van and wearing a seatbelt.

    Louis was first taken to Augusta Health and then transferred to UVA Health with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. His current condition is unknown.
