    UPDATE: I-65 near Brewton reopens after major Thursday morning crash

    UPDATE (Aug. 15, 12:31 p.m.): Drivers no longer have to steer clear of Interstate 65 near Brewton in Escambia County.

    A major crash — around 9:44 a.m. — closed the north- and southbound lanes just before Exit 77 / Alabama 41.

    However, the scene is now clear, and the roadway has been reopened, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

    ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Ala. ( WKRG ) — Interstate 65’s north- and southbound lanes near Brewton are blocked after a major crash, News 5 has learned.

    ALGO Traffic maps show the crash happened around 9:44 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-65 at mile marker 74.36, just before Exit 77/ AL 41 near Brewton.

    Authorities say the roads will be blocked for “an undetermined amount of time.”

    ALGO traffic is reporting a major crash on I-65 Northbound (ALGO)

    Officials with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said the two-vehicle crash involved a commercial vehicle. A semi-truck overturned after the crash.

    There is no word on injuries related to this crash.
