PRICHARD, Ala. ( WKRG ) — A Prichard teenager accused of shooting and killing his 12-year-old brother was denied bond in court Wednesday.

It was announced in court Wednesday that the 16-year-old is being charged with felony reckless manslaughter.

The teen turned himself in on Monday, Aug. 19, 10 days after his brother was killed.

The boy was killed on the evening of Aug. 11 on Snyder Drive.

Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood announced that the teenager will have an arraignment on Thursday, Aug. 22.

Blackwood said that investigators do not know where the 16-year-old got the gun, or who it belongs to.

The 16-year-old doesn’t have any adult criminal history due to his age, but Blackwood said the teen has a pending warrant for failing to appear on a probation violation on possession of a stolen gun in Strickland Youth Center.

“You have a 16-year-old defendant charged for manslaughter in the shooting death of his 12-year-old sibling,” Blackwood said. “Can’t imagine what this family’s going through. My heart goes out to them.”

“However, at the same time, we have to uphold the law, and we are going to prosecute this case as long as the law allows,” Blackwood said.
