Milton man sentenced for child sex crimes

SANTA ROSA COUNTY, Fla. ( WKRG ) — A Milton man who committed sex crimes against a child was sentenced to life in prison on Thursday, according to Florida State Attorney Ginger Bowden.

According to a news release from Bowden, a Santa Rosa County jury found Ruben Morin, 62, guilty of these charges for crimes at his Milton home:

• Sexual battery upon a victim less than 12 years of age
• Engaging in an act that constitutes sexual battery upon or with a child 12 years of age or older but younger than 18 years of age by a person in familial or custodial authority
• Two counts of lewd or lascivious molestation.

The crimes occurred between August 2013 and February 2020, when the victim was between ages 11 and 17, the release said.

Judge Clifton Drake ordered the sentence and designated Morin a sexual predator.
