    At Democratic National Convention, Shomari Figures touts District’s civil rights past

    MOBILE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — Mobile’s Shomari Figures addressed the Democratic National Convention in Chicago Thursday night ahead of the presidential nomination acceptance speech of Kamala Harris.

    Figures reflected on the Civil Rights history of the new Alabama House District 2 which he is hoping to represent.

    Figures will face Republican Caroleene Dobson in November.

    Figures spoke at the United Center after a video presentation by NBA star Steph Curry and before Rep. Colin Allred, D-Texas, who is running for U.S. Senate against Ted Cruz.
