ORANGE BEACH, Ala. ( WKRG ) — The city of Orange Beach & the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber held its second annual Coastal Tailgate Cook-Off Challenge at the Wharf’s Marina Lawn on Saturday.

Restaurants from around the Gulf Coast, especially from Orange Beach and Gulf Shores, got to compete in a cook-off in tailgate-style cooking competition with bacon as the key ingredient.

The winning team would earn a spot competing in the World Food Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana, on November 8 through 12.

People got to pay for ten sampling tickets, drinks, the availability to play cornhole, listen to live music and cast their vote for the People’s Choice Award.

The event was a fundraiser for the chamber’s education programs.

The Gulf, near The Pass in Orange Beach, won first place in the competition and will compete in the World Food Championships.

Chef Fetch from Island House Hotel in Orange Beach placed second. Chef Wayne Cooper from Blazed & Confused from Louisiana placed third.

The Orange Beach Police Department grill sergeants were the people’s choice for the second consecutive year.

LuLu’s in Gulf Shores won the best-decorated booth.
