    UPDATE: Victim in deadly Semmes stabbing identified

    UPDATE (Aug. 26, 10:48 a.m.): Officials with the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office have identified the man killed on Bermuda Drive in Semmes on Sunday.

    MCSO officials said Juan Antonio Ganados Acuna died after being found with a laceration to the neck.

    Witnesses told deputies they saw Acuna stumbling on the road and called 911. He was taken to USA Health where he was pronounced dead.

    The suspect in the incident, who authorities identified as 35-year-old Paublo Maldonado, was pulled over by Mobile Police Department officers around 8 p.m. that evening at University Boulevard and Moffett Road.

    UPDATE ( 8/26 9:45 a.m.) : Semmes Police Chief Todd Freind confirmed that 35-year-old Paublo Maldonado was arrested and charged with murder in connection to the stabbing death. Maldonado is listed as having a Robertsdale address and was booked into the Mobile County Metro Jail at about 11:15 Sunday night.

    SEMMES, Ala. (WKRG) — One man is dead after being stabbed Sunday morning in Semmes. Semmes Police were called to a home on Bermuda Drive off of Schillinger Road at about 10 am.

    When officers arrived they found a man in the yard of a home who had cut wounds on his neck and shoulder. The police chief says they attempted to call a medical helicopter but the victim died before air transport arrived.

    Police say they believe they know the identity of the person who was killed but are withholding that for the time being. At this point, we are not aware of any arrests and have no information on what may have led up to the incident. The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office was also at the scene to assist in the investigation.
