    Hurley Greer’s leading Apples For The Students program returns for new school year

    HURLEY, Miss. ( WKRG ) — Greer’s Markets in Hurley reopened on Thursday and announced it was the No. 1 store for the Greer’s Apples For The Students program last school year.

    The East Central High School band and cheerleaders attended and performed at the event.

    The Greer’s team said this project took around a year to complete and noted that they are extremely pleased with how well the remodel turned out. According to the team, they increased the sales area by 6,200 sq. feet, taking the total sales area to 20,650 sq. feet.

    The Apples for Students program, now in its 16th year, will begin on Sept. 1.

    The Greer’s Hurley store was No. 1 in the program last school year across all 29 Greer’s locations throughout Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida.

    Lucy Greer presented the Crystal Apple to the Greer’s Hurley team.

    Two of the local Hurley Schools, the East Central Upper and the East Central Lower Elementary Schools were announced as the top schools for the 2023-24 school year, and awards were presented to each school.
