MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — You’ll have to wait one more year for Mobile’s Labor Day Parade. According to a post by the Southwest Alabama Labor Council’s Facebook page, they decided to postpone the annual parade due to the ongoing demolition and construction at the Mobile Civic Center and surrounding parking lot. The post says they will focus their efforts on finding a different venue for the parade and are immediately planning for next year.

“By starting early, we can ensure that the event returns stronger than ever, with adequate time to address any logistical issues that may arise,” said the Southwest Alabama Labor Council. The parade traditionally starts in the Civic Center parking lot and is sometimes called the “Toilet Paper Parade” for the paper products from Kimberly-Clark that are tossed into the crowd.
