Fort Novosel soldier accused of raping young teen

FORT NOVOSEL, Ala. (WDHN) — A soldier from Fort Novosel was arrested over the weekend and charged with sex crimes after a joint investigation between local and Army police.

According to Enterprise Police, 36-year-old Juan Salvador Guillen Mondragon, a Warrant Officer 1, was arrested on August 30 and charged with Facilitating the Travel of a Child for an Unlawful Sex Act and Rape in the second degree.

Enterprise Police Captain Billy Haglund said an investigation into allegations against Mondragon was launched on August 27 in conjunction with the Fort Novosel Army CID.

Due to the nature of the crime, information is limited in the case, but Capt. Haglund tells WDHN that the victim was a 13-year-old.

A spokesperson from Fort Novosel confirmed that WO1 Mondragon is a flight school student from the California National Guard and is assigned to B Company, 1-145th Aviation Regiment on the post.

Jail records show Mondragon bonded out of the Coffee County Jail on September 2.
