On Sunday, troopers investigated a drowning on Wheeler Lake. No boat-related deaths were reported on any of the state’s rivers or lakes, but a boat accident with two injuries was reported on Lake Tuscaloosa.

On the water, troopers took part in 366 vessel inspections, arrested six people on boating under the influence charges, as well as issued 469 marine safety warning and 105 marine safety citations.

“While we are encouraged by the decrease in fatalities, there is still much work to be done,” ALEA Secretary Hal Taylor said in a statement. “These tragic incidents underline the importance of road safety, as well boating safety, and the ongoing need for vigilance and adherence to the state’s laws throughout the entire year.”
