16-year-old Deuce Barrer was killed while visiting family in Louisiana during the explosion, according to family members. His mother and sister were also severely injured and taken to a hospital in New Orleans.

Katherine, the mother, is doing significantly better and faces third-degree burns, according to the family. The sister, 18-year-old Brooklyn, is “fighting hard” and faces third and fourth-degree burns.

The fire marshal said just before 10 a.m. on Aug. 31, the Beauregard Fire District responded to the report of an explosion in the 1100 block of Pullin Road in Ragley.
